Dunham Greyhound Track

PanoramaHome
I have just come off the phone with Charlie Lister and he has just given Jane and Daves Track the BIG thumbs up , he said in all his years racing, it is the best Schooling Track he has ever been to and would have NO hesitation in putting ANY of his dogs around there, such was is glowing reference that I will be seriously considering sending pups to be schooled with Jane and Dave in the very near future.

In this day when things are very tight with money it is bloody bold for someone to take on such an enterprise and I feel that the Greyhound Community should at least give them a try and then decide for themselves. I know they are having a nice website built where all information about the track will be kept up to date on a daily basis.

I wish Jane and Dave all the very best with their venture and if Charlies words are anything to go by I am certain we will still be talking times around their track in many years to come.

I Sometimes Wonder

9122
On reading Greyhound Data I have become totally dismayed at how easily some people can farm out their broods, in some cases to people who they would not know from Adam or Eve, now far be it for me to start telling others how to run their show but it pains me to see some bitches passed around like a piece of meat with no thought as to how she may be feeling and in some cases it is blatantly obvious that basic requirements are not even in place, this to me is very scary and it does only serve more notice for our “Anti” friends to shoot us in the feet again and in these cases I would not disagree with them.

For me my broods are Queens and thus get treated as such, that is the reason why my 3 broods in Ireland live there full time as I believe it is very important that the brood is settled, and know not only their environment, but also their keepers, this can only serve the bitch best.
On the subject of broods I can happily announce that Baby Marge is definitely in pup to Hondo Black as we got her scanned last week, I always like to have a maiden brood scanned so that we know were we stand with them, Droopys Lena has also just been mated to Hondo Black and we shall wait and see how she goes, all reports from her first litter are very encouraging.

Macmillan Night at the Don

don
First off I would like to thank each and everyone who has contributed to this years Charity Event, I know I always say that I appreciate it etc etc but I really do appreciate it guys as you all know exactly how much this charity means to me.

Saturday night was a great nights racing with a few local winners added into the mix, obviously the Favs were not bounding in but I think most people enjoyed that side of the night, the night hit a snag before it even started as there was major traffic jams and 30 minute journeys were taking 2 hours, a few people never made it due to this which was a real shame for them, however as the night went on the stadium started to fill.

All the winning owners were really appreciative of the trophys and presentation jackets given to them and I thought it was such a lovely gesture by the owners of Dark Jamie(Sprint winner) and Cabra Boss(Invitational winner) who both gave the sponsors the presentation jacket as they were both Memorial races in memory of their late mothers, I know that both Simon(Wooder) and Andy(Slater) intend getting these framed and it is a lovely way for them to remember their night.

A special mention must also go to Cabra Boss's owners who threw £1,000 of the winnings back into the Charity Pot and Platinumlancelots owners who threw £300 back in as well, both really appreciated guys.

The total raised for the charity is £5750 which I know, for some, will initially be seen as being on the low side but I knew that we would never get close to last years totals but in all fairness the Auction Items last year included 4 fully reared pups alongside other items, I am happy with the figure raised as the way I see things is that it is £5750 more than they had before Saturday and it will go a long way in helping out many families.

I also have a joker card to play(Hopefully), Daisy the Blue bitch pup was not auctioned and I shall make sure that she chases and then look to syndicate her out for The Charity.

All in it was a great night and I must say a huge thanks to Gary Mathews and his staff as well as Keith Halinhan and staff who where very helpful and professional during the whole build up.

Thanks again from the bottom of my heart.

Getting ever closer

Well we are just 1 week(Sat 11th July.. Wimbledon) from this years Charity Event taking place and slowly but surely it is taking shape, it is not a great surprise for me to say that things have been a little bit tougher this year, but with the support of The Greyhound Fraternity, we will once again do Macmillan proud, that I have no doubt.

I really cannot thank everyone who has contributed to this night enough and the overall feeling is that everyone is only to willing to help out such a worthy charity and nobody is looking for anything in return.
I have booked out The Bistro at Wimbledon and as I type there are a few seats still available, cost is £25 per person and incudes Admission, Racecard and 3 Course meal, the other factor is that you will be in the more tranquil settings that may not be to hand within other parts of the stadium on a typical Saturday night, I have also secured a late bar and The Auction shall take place directly after the final race, Dave Lawrence from Sky is hoping to have a camera along to shoot a little piece for the Sky Greyhound show.
Due to me preparing things for the above event I have had to ignore the website, for this I apologise and we will be back on track after the charity night is over, infact we will have lots of pictures and video shots of the night so plenty to look forward too.

The heat here is just unbearable and we are trying anything possible to protect the pups but it is not easy, and I am even doing normal daytime work at 10pm as it is much easier, it is typical that we constantly moan about the weather but this is just too hot.
Considering the circumstances, the pups are all doing fine and I am happy enough with them.
On the brood front, Baby Marge as you know has been mated to Hondo Black and I have now sent Droopys Lena to Hondo Black as well, all being well both bitches will produce lovely litters and if they show the same traits as my previous Hondo Black litter they will be an absolute joy to rear.

Winners since last noted are, Oxford Don at Nottingham, Bellpac Philly and Lenn Noir at Newcastle, Ebony Chaser, Smoking Jim, Smoking John x2, Smoking Shady, Adios Amigo, Ashbys Hawk x2 and English Rose all at Hove, Culzean Bluebell at Belle Vue, Good To Go and Opening Quest at Wimbledon, Questhouse Tobey at Geldrops and Wigmore Bomber and Shimano Cypo.
Total winners to date 761.
