Here is a selection of photos showing the facilities on offer for the puppies.
The puppy block houses 3 litters of any size,each house is 11x8ft with an 8x4ft bed, plenty big enough to handle big litters of all ages,the walls have galvanised steel to 4ft in height,thus preventing any soilage seeping into the brick work which makes it more hygenic and healthy, the paddocks leading off these kennels are for general play and lounging around.
ALL puppys have access to the field 3 times a day to open themselves up and build those all important bones up, by restricting them to a smaller paddock and then releasing to a much larger one, it encourages them to work harder and thus become much stronger dogs, the pups aggresion will dictate how long we keep litters together, we do however much prefer to keep litters intact for as long as we possibly can as it only benefits the pups in the future.
We are very vigilant and any pups seen to be being picked on, will be removed from the litter straight away.
The Whelping kennels are Block constructed and lined with UPVC cladding, this is very very hygenic and a simple sponge down will remove all traces of blood and dirt after the whelping, they also include Heat Lamps and CCTV cameras linked up to the house, this is ideal for watching broods before, during and after giving birth, attatched to each whelping shed is a concrete paddock giving outside access 24 hours for the Brood and puppies once running around.
The brood kennels are in 2 styles, 1 are upvc cladded with each bed having 8 inches of insulation underneath, this prevents cold coming through the underside of their beds.
The other design has boxed in kennels with roofs that can be pinned back to the wall or placed down, this is ideal in the winter as it keeps them draught free and snug, attatched to each kennel is a simple 12 ft x 6ft concrete run that allows the broods access outside.
The grass Brood paddocks are for them during the day, all broods go outside all day and have shelter with their own wooden hut, this allows them to run the fences with the pups, great for keeping their mind and body young.
The field is a nice Square shape that allows the pups to twist and turn and chase each other.
