Relatively Quiet on the Western front
20/03/09 16:30 Filed in: update
Very quiet week in the kennels what with the previous weeks antics with Jazz and her pups, she is doing absolutely grand as are her puppies, new pictures taken yesterday are now on her webpage.
The weather (At Last) seems to have turned for the better and it has allowed me to get things done that could not be done whilst we had so much rain, never thought I would be so happy to mow the grass but it does make the place so much neater.
Plans are going on for the proposed upcoming Charity Night and very kind sponsorship from Simon Wooder and Dave Shallows has helped get us started, obviously we are in need of other sponsors, so please, any help is appreciated.
I have also agreed sponsorship of a race at Nottingham Stadium on Monday 27th April, this will be held in memory of my mum who died last year on this date and I can only say that Dave Baldwin has been nothing but courteous as well as generous with a Complimentary Table in the Restaraunt, it goes without saying that it is a day I am not really looking forward to but as long as I am able too, I will always keep my mums name alive.
Recent winners are as follows... Bellpac Philly, Wee Bad Boy and Lenn Swartz at Newcastle. Smoking Jim, Smoking John and Revengeful Demon at Hove and Dickos Marc at Sheffield

Movies Movies Movies!
16/03/09 08:35 Filed in: update

We now have such a large collection of movies on the site that we have had to create new pages to organise them into. Generic movies will be staying on the main movie page but movies about specific broods and pups will get their own sub page, this should make it much easier to find the subject of your choice
All 3 of Jazz Hurricane’s whelping videos are now available to view click here
Macmillan Cancer Support Evening
14/03/09 15:33 Filed in: update
Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium
Saturday 4th July
I am pleased to announce that myself and Wimbledon stadium have come to an agreement on a date for this years benefit night in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, Macmillan nurses are invaluable to both Cancer sufferers and their families and virtually every household these days knows of someone that is effected by Cancer, now, more than ever, we need to support these nurses whos work sometimes go unnoticed but without them the patients and families would struggle.
Last years event at Hove was a huge success and raised £23,000 and a nights racing was had that was befitting of such wonderful people, lets see what we can achieve and remember that every little helps.
My aim is to have 11 Open races and 2 Graded stakes for the local racers, these would be lower graded fares thus giving these dogs the chance to strutt their stuff on the same stage as the bigger boys, this format was a raging success at Hove and had all the trainers and owners lavishing full praise.
Like last year, I am looking at £1,000 per race which would see a % go towards the Charity, this race sponsorship could be formed by more than 1 person, so PLEASE, if you would like to get involved, but you cannot afford the full amount, get in touch and we will work with you and your sponsorship, remember that there will be others like yourself that want to help and thus we can merge you all together.
We are also looking for individual Dog sponsors on the night, these are priced at £20 and all winning dog sponsors shall go into a draw for a fantastic prize that we shall announce very shortly.
We shall be holding an Auction live on the night with various items that are as yet unknown, these will initially be on offer online for people to bid on, last years auction was fantastic and I would strongly urge anyone visiting on the night to stay back for this as the Craic was unreal, should anyone like to donate anything for Auction then please contact myself.
I am awaiting a Package deal that will include admission and Meal in Restaraunt and once known I shall announce the details and how you can book it.
Many many thanks again for listening to me, I know for some it will be boring but I am determined to raise as much as I possibly can for people that in my eyes are Angels.
Time To Move

Yesterday we said goodbye to Millies Awards 2 Brindle boys and I will say that they are absolute stunners, the small lad is 72lbs and his brother is a paltry 82lbs and if looks could win you anything then these lads will do very well.

We also got in our Droopys Rosari and Millies Award Pups both to Premier Fantasy and I will get pictures of both litters on the site in the next couple of days, they have both settled in fine and appear very feisty and all grubbed up brilliantly.
A big Thank You to Ian and Michelle for bringing them up to this stage and for looking after both Millie and Rosari as well as my other brood Questhouse Lucy.
Jazz and pups are doing well and heres a picture of them taken last night(2 Days old), the birth went virtually perfect and makes life so much easier for Jazz, keep looking in at Galleries for regular updated pictures of these pups and the others.
We have loaded up a small video of the birth, this is in a couple of parts to make it easier loaded for Non Broadband users, we hope you enjoy it and hopefully it can help out others whelping down for the first time.
After discussions with Wimbledon Stadium, we shall be hosting their Trial Results from now on in, this should benefit the Wimbledon owners as well as trainers, and should take a bit of strain of the Racing Office as I know only too well that they get phoned regularly from owners asking how their dog trialled
Please don’t be afraid to add comments to any of the Blog Posts even if negative, it is how we can best evolve the site by knowing what makes the viewers happy.
Latest winners are Trejon Scholes at Perry Barr, Questhousae Leigh(twice) at Monmore, Shimano Cypo at Henlow, Oxford Don at Nottingham, Got any Gossip at Hove, Good To Go at Wimbledon and Wee Bad Boy and Lenn Trois at Newcastle.

Oh What A Night

Oi Oi Ninjaaaaaa!

Well, what can I say regarding my night at Wimbledon!
I will tell you that it was an honour to have my mums name involved alongside last nights card, it must rate as one of the very best overall cards put on, the atmosphere on the terraces when my Mums race was on parade was akin to a little mini derby buzz, not “The Roar” but that buzz of anticipation in what may happen, all the connections were standing side by side as the rain lashed down and if we could create this feeling more often then our great sport has no worries.

I must thank all the trainers and owners for entering their dogs and showing up last night and everyone was very grateful to me for putting the race on but in all honesty it is me who is grateful to them for putting their great dogs forward, the craic both before the race and after was very very nice and it will be a night I remember for a long time, infact I have decided that I would like to sponsor this race again next year if the track should allow me.
All the losing connections where very gracious in defeat and not one of them was in that race for the money, it was as they all said " For the Craic", I hope everyone liked the national parade jackets, I thought it would be a bit of fun with the English v Irish V Scottish. Check out our Movies page for the race as well as the Juvenile race, both winners being sons of Farloe Oyster who is our most recent Brood Final Rose’s Mother.

Of the races on the night, well they all had something that set them apart from lots of other Sky Nights, firstly Cabra Fly, Whoosh Whoosh and Whoosh describe this lass, a quite simply awesome run from a bitch with a very bright future.
Next up was Our Puppy Derby winner Jesters Nap and he was very professional in going about his job and even though his time was good I see a fair bit of improvment to come.
Over the sticks next and Ricky was quoted saying that “ Winkys Don was only 80%”, well sorry Ricky but theres NO WAY on this earth that your lad could run such a fantastic race only being 80%, this lad was my Nap on last years Derby Final card and duly fluffed his lines but recently he has taken all before him.
Young stayer Capel Wilson was next to claim the winning throne, the apple of Lee Gifkins eye and subject to many lumpy wagers in his young life(The dog, not Lee), Wilson was a fair few lengths adrfit of the unexposed Best Bargain, having been subject to “Will he stay or not”, it was very much heart in the mouths for Capels fans as BB strode out majestically, however for the time being Best Bargain did’nt stay and Wilson strode home lovely.
Subject to many lumpy bets in the ring, Ballymac Ruso went to traps the well backed odds on Fav, his trials on his return where impressive but Races bring about more of a test than trials, Traps open and Ruso and Lethal Freddie go to the bend together, Freddie threw himself into the bend and came out in front and he managed to hold that lead all the way home, a nice dog for slightly shorther trips.
The Invitational up next and of course the reason for me being at Wimbledon, College Causeway was bet pounds, shillings and pence in the ring to at 1 stage touch outright Fav, the anticipation grew as they went to the traps, up came the lids and Ninja Jamie fairly flew out but College was right with him, however Jamie ran the bend better and hit the back straight 2 lengths in front that quickly became 4, for all CC tried he was never going to reel in Jamie and it was a very fitting race for my mothers name and I was chuffed for Terry and his family as well as Geoff and Sharon.
The marathon quickly followed and boy did it prove exciting, okay we had an Odds on shot BUT this odds on runs like a 100’s chance for the first 500 metres, then it picks up the gears and flys past them as if they are standing still, quite simply awesome last night what with the weather as well.
The main race of the night was The Juvenile and was being billed as a match between Fear Zafonic and Boherna Best, they enter the traps, lids come up and FZ and BB both take a flyer, neck and neck into the bend but FZ fairly hugged the rail which gave him the lead, he quickly opened up 3 lengths and held this to the line, I was very pleased for Kieran, Paul and especially Simon who has been a supporter of my charity and who had a rough year himself last year with losing his mother to the same dreaded cancer, both of us try help each other out and it was great to see him enjoy the night.
All in, it rates as 1 of the very best nights racing supplied and long may we have more of them.
Wimbledon were very courteous and welcoming to me, a table was reserved in the restaraunt but I declined it as I had too many people to catch up with, however the gesture was very much appreciated and duly noted, Stan Wolfe(G/M) came downstairs to introduce himself to me earlier in the night as did Gary Mathews(R/M), This is exactly how people should be treated.
I have also decided to postpone this years Charity Night and will now be seeking a date in July and will then kick on full steam ahead, quite a few “faces” last night said that I could rely on their support and I’ll move heaven and earth to put on a storming night and raise as much money for Macmillan as is possible, once the date is known I shall post it up here and will then bring out the “ Begging Bowl”.
Our next Blog insert should be introducing the newborns from Jazz Hurricane.

Mixed Emotions
02/03/09 08:12 Filed in: update
Well it has been a very mixed time with emotions running in all directions, firstly we had the superb reaction to my mums invitational race at Wimbledon and I must say a Huge Thank You to all the connections for their eagerness to take part in this superb race, I am truly proud to have my mothers name alongside these fantastic animals and I know she would be revelling in the limelight herself, very sadly missed but will NEVER be forgotten.
Then a week ago my Hondo Black x Miss Wonderful dog pup injured his Stifle (pictured), just turned 10 months old I have sent him away, along with his sister, to be kept quiet and confined to the lead for 4 months, lets hope he can come back but it is an injury that you dread a pup getting.

Then on Friday Roger and Karin arrived from Switzerland to take Emily (Savana Highlands x Knockeevan Angie) home with them, this was both sad and happy, very sad to say goodbye to her as she holds a special place in my families lives but also very happy as I now know that Emily has a life that you can only dream of for a dog, Roger and Karin are the only people I would have asked to take Emily.
In return for getting Emily, Roger and Karin decided to cook Fondue for me, a bit on the rich side for me but we had a laugh whilst preparing and eating it, Karin was quite upset on leaving which was very touching and a friendship for life has been formed over the last 3 years.
The website also launched its advertising within the Racing Post last week, this advert shall run every week for the next year, I believe that you have to put yourself out to people rather than waiting for them to come your way and I’m sure this will help secure the kennels future, alongside the website we hope we are providing whats needed in this profession
Winners since last listed below making it 31 winners in Feb(Total winners 666)
Questhouse Leigh @Monmore.. Questhouse Kylie, Crooked Duke, Wee Bad Boy and Lenn Swartz @Newcastle.. Revengeful Demon x2, Smoking Jim, Smoking John @ Hove.. Pretty Mentor @ Romford.. Quest For Wonder and Moorland Rob @ Belle Vue.. Oxford Don @ Nottingham..Pendle Whojo @ Crayford and Good To Go @ Wimbledon
